Frequently Asked Questions
Do you repair windows before recommending replacement?
Yes. Our goal is always to repair your existing windows whenever it's safe and cost-effective to do so. If a repair will restore the window's function and efficiency, we'll recommend that option first. If the window is beyond repair, we'll explain why and discuss replacement options.
How do I know if my window can be repaired?
Many window problems can be repaired, including broken balances, damaged locks, broken cranks, foggy insulated glass, damaged weather stripping, and windows that won't open or close properly. We'll inspect your window and let you know whether a repair is the best solution.
When should a window be replaced instead of repaired?
Replacement may be recommended if the frame is severely rotted, the window has extensive structural damage, multiple failed components, or repairing it would cost nearly as much as installing a new energy-efficient window.
Can you replace just the glass instead of the entire window?
Yes. In many cases, only the insulated glass unit (IGU) needs to be replaced. If the frame is still in good condition, replacing the glass can be a much more affordable solution.
What causes windows to become foggy?
Foggy windows usually mean the seal between the panes of insulated glass has failed, allowing moisture to enter. Depending on the condition of the frame, we can often replace just the glass instead of the entire window.
Can you repair windows that won't open or close?
Absolutely. Broken balances, springs, tracks, cranks, rollers, and hardware are common issues that can usually be repaired without replacing the window.
Do you repair broken window locks and latches?
Yes. We repair and replace many types of window locks, latches, operators, and other hardware to restore security and proper operation.
Can you repair crank-out (casement) windows?
Yes. Casement windows often experience worn operators, hinges, and cranks. We repair or replace these components whenever possible.
Do you repair double-hung windows?
Yes. We repair broken balances, tilt latches, sash locks, weather stripping, and other components on double-hung windows.
Can you fix windows that are difficult to open?
Yes. Sticky or hard-to-open windows are often caused by worn hardware, damaged balances, paint buildup, or frame movement. These problems can frequently be repaired.
Is window repair less expensive than replacement?
Yes. If the window frame is still in good condition, repairing the existing window can save homeowners hundreds or even thousands of dollars compared to full replacement.
Do you offer full window replacement?
Yes. While we specialize in repairs, we also install replacement windows when repairing the existing window is no longer the best option.
Can you replace one window instead of my entire house?
Absolutely. Whether you need one window replaced or every window in your home, we can help.
What types of windows do you service?
We work on many styles of residential windows, including:
- Double-hung windows
- Casement windows
- Sliding windows
- Awning windows

Do you repair older windows?
Yes. We regularly repair older windows and can often locate replacement parts that homeowners thought were no longer available.
Do you work on vinyl, wood, and aluminum windows?
Yes. We repair and replace components on vinyl, wood, fiberglass, and aluminum windows whenever possible.
How long does a window repair usually take?
Many repairs can be completed during a single visit, although specialty parts or replacement glass may require a follow-up appointment.

Will replacing my windows lower my energy bills?
Modern energy-efficient windows can help reduce drafts, improve comfort, and lower heating and cooling costs. If your existing windows can no longer perform efficiently, replacement may be the better long-term investment.
Do you repair broken window seals?
Yes. Depending on the type of frame, we can often replace the insulated glass unit without replacing the entire window.
